HALLOWEEN ON THE HIGH SEAS

DISNEY CRUISE LINES

The Halloween season is widely celebrated throughout the world. It is marked by the changing leaves, a cold October breeze, and the orange, flickering glow of a carved pumpkin. In 2013, the Disney Dream, a premier cruise ship, brought Halloween's spooky thrills and chills to its guests in a unique and unforgettable way. Michael, a leading creative storyteller, collaborated closely with Disney Cruise Line to create a marquee event experience that would offer guests an entire cruise of unique Halloween entertainment offerings.

The event was a roaring success, with guests treated to various Halloween-inspired activities and entertainment. These included costume parties, themed dinners, live shows, and trick-or-treating. The on-board decorations were equally impressive, featuring elaborate displays of pumpkins, ghosts, and other spooky creatures. This immersive Halloween experience was unlike anything that had ever been offered on a cruise ship before.

The event was so popular that in 2014, it was extended to the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet, becoming a staple of the Fall months aboard all the ships. Today, guests continue to enjoy this unique and unforgettable Halloween experience, which has become a highlight of the Disney Cruise Line's Fall programming.

The cruise-long events and experiences included:

- The Pumpkin Tree: The legend of the Pumpkin King, his four pumpkin seeds, and the beautifully morbid trees that bloom once a year, holding the remnant spirits of Halloween memories gone past.

- Ship-Wide Announcement: Daily housekeeping is provided by the disembodied voice of the Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion.

- Mickey’s Mousequerade Party: A scare-a-bration with some of your favorite Disney Pals, dressed in their Halloween finest. Guests are encouraged to don their ghoulish best and join in the fun.

- Haunted Stories of the Sea: An exclusive film experience played under the darkened skies of the ship’s deck. Old mariners tell ghostly tales from the sea with storytelling, music, and mischievous fun.

- Halloween Isn’t Just for Kids: The trendy dance club for adults becomes the hangout for the dark side of Disney. With dramatic lighting cues and graphic overlays, the subtle influence of the monarch butterfly becomes the winged serpent form of Maleficent from the upcoming Disney film. Adult guests are encouraged to dress up and flaunt their wild side to meet the approval of the evil Queen’s discerning eye.

- A Nightmare Before Christmas Sing & Scream: A screening of the beloved holiday film in 3D. Guests are encouraged to sing and scream along with the popular classic, with enhanced elements including lighting, snow, confetti, and an appearance by characters Jack and Sally.
