MONSTER-OUS SUMMER PRESS EVENT & ANNOUNCEMENT
The Guests are instructed to meet at a staging platform on the north side of the Spaceship Earth attraction for a “monstrous” announcement.
The Guests arrive at the location, met by several figures in dark cloaks. They enter the space, finding a simple staging platform and podium. Behind the stage is a clear view of the breathtaking Spaceship Earth. Elements of a Monsters University “Pep-Rally” help define the space. These include Monsters University banners and fraternity pennants.
Once everyone has arrived, the cloaked figures approach the front of the stage. We hear the sound of a whistle, and the figures reveal they are actually fraternity and sorority members. A Bubbly, CHEER SQUAD LEADER leads the troop in a fun routine set to a college fight song, rousing the audience with their energy.
With everyone in place, it is time for the announcement. A Monsters University SPOKESPERSON, complete with an antenna and even a third eye, steps up to the podium to set the scene, delivering message points in a fun and clever way. He explains that everyone here has been invited to a special upcoming event sponsored by the University.
The Spokesperson welcomes an exceptional Guest to announce the upcoming event of the secret meeting. A Disney Executive is introduced to the stage, underscored by collegiate music.
As the Disney Executive finally begins to announce the big event, we hear the sound of sparking electricity. Suddenly, the power in the entire park fades, leaving everyone in darkness.
We hear the flapping of feet walking towards us, drawing our attention to Spaceship Earth. We hear a distinct voice, and suddenly, the projected face of MIKE WAZOWSKI appears, transforming the sphere into the loveable Cyclops.
The loveable freshman notices us and walks forward, his green, cyclopic face covering the sphere. He explains that there is going to be a 24-hour “all-nighter” kick-off event at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. Starting May 24th, Guests will scream, giggle, and squeal with delight at the colossal lineup of new thrills and entertainment that promises to make this an “all-nighter” to be remembered. Following the all-night festivities, Disney Parks will be bursting with a “monster-ous” lineup of unforgettable new shows, happenings, and attractions coast to coast all summer. But this event is so huge that they are going to need a lot more power to help create the surplus needed; Mike is going to have to make some screams. He needs us.
He flicks off the light and then flicks it back on, giving us his best scary face to little effect. He flicks off the light again, then flicks it back on, wearing a silly mask. He flicks off the light for a third time and warns that this time is going to be “really scary and that we had better be prepared to scream.” He flicks it back on, and the screen is filled with the bellowing roaring face of SULLEY. The roar echoes around the space, and the audience erupts in a scream. The power source is so vital that an overflow of energy explodes.
Pyrotechnics rocket skyward, signaling the surplus and filling the sky with color. The light flicks back on, and we see Mike once more, promising to see us at the most “monster-ous” summer ever. The lights return, and our Executive reveals more information about the event while Mike patiently and intently watches.
